Happy Birthday, Abe!

When we went to the library on Tuesday, the librarian mentioned that we should come back on Thursday for cake for Lincoln's birthday. I didn't think Landon was paying much attention, but later that day while we were eating lunch, he asked me, "Whose birthday is it?"

"I don't know," I said.

"It's Abraham Lincoln's birthday!" Landon informed me. Then he asked about giving Abe presents and having cake for his birthday. So of course, I felt that we'd better show up today for the cake. We each enjoyed a little slice of Lincoln's 200th birthday cake, and the librarian gave Landon a Lincoln coloring sheet, too.

Happy birthday, Abe!

Valentine's Toast

I cut Landon's toast into hearts tonight with a cookie cutter. They're spread with a layer of peanut butter (his request) and a layer of cream cheese with red food coloring.

I made also Valentine's sugar cookies with pink icing this week, but Daddy and I have eaten more of those ourselves than we've shared with Landon.

Snowman

Who knew that 30 degrees could feel so pleasant? After the rather cold days we've had here lately, it felt pretty nice outside this morning at around 30 degrees. However, it was cold enough that there were still a few inches of snow on the ground, so we were able to build Landon a teeny tiny snowman. And unlike the last few times we've gone out in the snow, he was willing to walk around in it and touch it. He even made mini snowballs to throw on the ground and at the fence. The swing set was snow-free, so he also spent time swinging and sliding, which reminded us that spring will be here soon.

Happy Groundhog Day!

I found a cute Groundhog Day coloring page with a poem today for Landon to color. We looked at our shadows on the wall too. There may be six more weeks of winter, but at least we had fun with our groundhog activities today.
